Disabling Lost (Stolen) Mobile Phone Using IMEI Number

You can disable or block your lost or stolen mobile phone using IMEI number. Press *#06# on your mobile,  then a 15 digit code will appear on the screen, it is called the IMEI number. This number is unique to every handset. Note it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your mobile phone gets stolen or if you have lost your mobile, you can contact your network provider to block your IMEI number. First go to Police and get a FIR copy. Then call customer service and tell to block your IMEI number. All the network providers in India use a shared hosting service for blocking IMEI numbers, so if you tell to one network, all other networks will block that IMEI number automatically. So no any SIM card will work on your mobile phone and it will become useless.
